Shepherd's Field Church is located east of Bethlehem in a village called Beit Sahour. The local fields have been identified since ancient times with the shepherds who saw the Star of Nativity.
This area is also believed to be where the Hebrew matriarchs Ruth and Naomi gleaned in the fields behind the harvesters on their way to Bethlehem from Moab (Ruth 2-4). As the story goes - Ruth marries Boaz and they become parents of Oved - the father of Jesse - who becomes the father of King David, who was born in Jerusalem. Bethlehem becomes known as the "City of David" - Micah 5:1-5 predicted that the Messiah would be born here.
We had a beautiful worship service inside the church with the reading of Scripture Luke 2:1-20. We sang "O Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, Angels We have Heard on High and Silent Night - Holy Night"
