Judy, Jan and I (Lois)were so pleased to attend the luncheon for obvious reasons, but also because there were only five other women who attended. Two tables of four each. It was a precious time. The ladies did a terrific job of preparing a delicious luncheon and serving us. We started with an amazing carrot soup garnished with a marinate asparagus spear, chicken salad on bed of greens, with crackers and garnished with grapes, blueberries and pineapple, and an amazing baked apple rose with a strawberry garnish and rainbow sherbet. It was all fabulous and beautifully presented!
Chef Ze gave a mini testimony of how she learned to cook from her dad and how she came to "retire" and start her not-for-profit called Kitch'n Lyfe Skills, Inc. She shared her concepts of teaching these girls about kitchen skills for personal life and for employment. She presented six girls their certificates for food handling and two others also received certificates for kitchen management (I think that's what it was called), along with a "turner" (a spatula) and a gift from a Mary Kay representative. She said "One dish can turn your life around;" therefore, the presentation of the "turner". One gal also received a whisk, but I can't remember that story. Judy or Jan can fill in the missing pictures.
I hope these pictures give you an idea of what the celebration was about.
I am still smiling and hope the ladies know that they presented a beautiful meal and how delighted we were to share in this experience with them!
