Follow from Familiar Fields
Eastern shepherds lead their sheep. They go up front and the sheep know their voice. John 10:3, 4 says, “…the sheep hear His voice and He calleth His own sheep by name and leadeth them out. And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.”
Is God calling you by name? Is He leading you out – out of your familiar fold and field into new pastures? Be encouraged, He won’t only send you, but He will lead you out. He will go before you. He will reach every obstacle before you reach it and by the time you have reached it, He would have moved it out of the way. Jehovah said to Joshua, “…there shall be a space between you and it (the ark of God’s presence)… that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for you have not passed this way heretofore” (Joshua 3:4).
When Jesus called His disciples He said, “Come follow me.” We dare not venture on our own. Moses refused to move of his own accord. In Exodus 33:14-15, God said, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, ‘If Thy presence go not with me carry us not up hence.’”
Moses reminded the Israelites, “He brought you out of Egypt with His presence, with His mighty power” (Deuteronomy 4:37 NKJV). “He led them forth by the right way that they might go to a city of habitation.” (Psalm 107:7)
Have you heard His voice? Then follow Him unreservedly.
