As we go throughout our days, we ask you to build a hedge of protection around us - to help us not be tempted by people and things that are not good for us. We ask you to turn our selfishness into selflessness. Please help us to be welcoming, kind, gentle, compassionate, understanding and loving Daughters of Christ. Teach us to be reverent in the way we live, to be role models for others. We ask these in Jesus' name - Amen.
Linda gave a praise about her son, Steve's medical issues - it has been determined that there is not any issue with strokes or his brain - the doctors are leaning to a middle ear issue and he will see an ENT this week.
Judi asked for prayer for the upcoming 3 day walk at the Orange County Jail which begins Friday, July 18th and concludes on Sunday, July 21st. There will be more than 40 team members entering the jail - to bring the love of Christ to about 70 men and women.
Lois talked about judgment issues - most of us chimed in that this is an area most of us need help with - in not judging others - to hold our tongue and even our thoughts against others - we don't walk in their shoes or in their lives - only God is fully aware of what they are dealing with. When we feel about to judge - let's pray to God that we stop those thoughts and pray for them instead.
Judy W shared about her wonderful son, "Uncle Ed", who is taking a 2 week journey with his 3 teenage nieces aged 19, 17 and 16. They have plans to drive to Dallas, the Grand Canyon and maybe even Yellowstone. Let's pray that this trip together is a wonderful experience filled with memories to last a lifetime.
Jane asked for prayers for her son and husband (both named Brooks) - Young Brooks has been home from college for the summer - he's taken 2 classes at the local college and received 2 A's. She's asked that he remain focused on the Lord and not allow these teenage college years to veer him off the path he's been on his entire life. We talked about "stakes in the ground" and that he has a wonderful foundation brought forth by Jane and Brooks' upbringing. As parents we always struggle watching our children make their own mistakes (especially when we have SO MUCH experience making those same mistakes).
Pam reminded us of her daughter's friend, Amanda, with fatal cervical cancer. She has asked for prayer continued prayer for Amanda for acceptance and comfort and also to surround the entire family and friends of Amanda as they spend these days with her.
Dreama asked for continued prayer for her friend, Susie, who is battling the effects of cancer treatment. Susie is angry about her experiences and vocalizing them on Facebook. Susie's friends are having difficulty with her postings. Please pray that Susie's friends find a way to deal with her outrage and not desert her at a time when she needs love and understanding the most. Please pray for Susie to be able to release her anger and move toward acceptance.
Please pray for the people and what is happening in Israel and other parts of the world where war and danger is an everyday event.
