- Please lift up Vivian's granddaughter Rebecca who is in prison. She is not accepting any mail yet, but when she is it will be wonderful for her to know that we are praying for her - for the Lord to build a hedge of protection around her and a desire to use this time to open her mind, her heart, her ears and eyes to the Lord. Revelation 3:7 we know that "what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. In 3.8 Jesus tells us "I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut" We pray for Rebecca to go through this open door where the Lord awaits her.
- Please keep Judi's brother, Bobby, and Kathy in your prayers as they continue to traverse the difficulties of the Alzheimer's disease. Please pray for the doctors to provide the best possible treatment to especially stave off the nighttime hallucinations and nightmares and to provide them with the greatest amount of quality time together.
- Linda K shared the vision problems her daughter's mother-in-law, Jan, had been experiencing. Sadly it was caused by a large brain tumor. Thankfully the surgeon was able to remove it. Chemo and post-op treatments are still ahead of Jan. While this diagnosis is never easy for anyone it has especially hard on Jan who was a a practicing psychologist who worked with brain injury patients.
- Judi asked for prayers for Alan - a long time family friend - who was recently diagnosed with pancreas, liver and lung cancer. A week ago today he was to receive results from a liver biopsy. Emails have been sent keeping Alan and Sandy, his wife, in prayer but no word on the biopsy has been received by Judi.
- Judy W's young (35 years old) friend, Kanoa, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She has requested aggressive treatment. Her faith is very strong and Kanoa has already said if the treatment is not successful they (Kanoa, her husband and two children) will move to her Dad's and live out her live surrounded by her immediate family.
- Praise for Judy W's brother who had a successful knee surgery - they were able to perform the surgery without general anesthesia (which he did not do well with during a prior surgery). An epidural kept him from a repeat of previous issues and Judy W was able to speak to him today. He still will have a time of healing and therapy ahead of him.

On April 3, 2004 I fell in love at first sight and brought a precious little boy kitten into our lives - his name was Buddie - a Scottish Fold. 6 months later I got him a "wife" Savannah and a "sister-in-law" Minxi. Everyone who met him fell in love with him. Today our hearts are broken as we said good-bye to our little boy. A few days ago we learned he had a large fast growing inoperable tumor - I never thought we would say good-bye to him so soon. He was very precious to us - we will miss you Buddie. Rest in peace my precious little one. We will always love you.
On page 74 of our workbook the following was posted. This is such an important message - definitely worth repeating: Think Biblically, Live Biblically The whole point of spending time in the Word is not to simply read, it but to apply it to our lives so that we begin to think biblically. Because until we think biblically, we will be slow to live biblically. When through His Word, God reveals something in your life that is displeasing to Him, don’t ignore it; do something about it (James 1:25).
In Matthew 7, Jesus describes a “foolish man” as someone who hears His commands but doesn’t apply them. In contrast is the person who listens and obeys. Jesus calls that person “a wise man” who builds his house on a rock. No matter how strong the wind or fierce the storm, that person’s house will stand firm. When we allow God’s Word to set our standards – precept upon precept, stone upon stone – we are building a spiritual house that will endure. Because when we learn to think biblically, we instinctively begin to live biblically. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25
The following questions were received from within the group - we reviewed this on Monday night - in case you missed or . . . or if it helps you . . . please see below:
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 7 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I had trouble understanding 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. I understand my strength comes from Christ. So Satan throws up hardships at us and it's OK? (delight in weaknesses, insults, etc.) Why keep testing us?
Why should we enjoy being tested? QUOTE BY MARTYN LLOYD-JONES: “It is very DIFFICULT to be HUMBLE if you are always SUCCESSFUL, so GOD CHASTISES us with FAILURE (so to speak) at times in order to HUMBLE us, to keep us in a STATE of HUMILITY.” [2 Corinthians 12:7-10] God does not tempt us, He cannot be tempted, and He tempts no one. God however, allows us to be tested and tempted.
We pray and GOD answers our prayers (our time or HIS). I'm OK with that. Why didn't Martha and Mary accept Lazuras' death as GOD's plan (not knowing that Jesus would come back?)
I understand that it is a story to teach us GOD's Grace and HIS plan. But where is the faith in this story? Question: "What is the definition of faith?" Answer: Thankfully, the Bible contains a clear definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Simply put, the biblical definition of faith is “trusting in something you cannot explicitly prove.” John 11:20 – 27 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. 21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God,who is to come into the world.” Martha's faith is found in verse 21 and 22 and 24 and 27. She BELIEVED! |
