Dearest Father - You have given us every single thing we need - in order to live on this earth - right down to the air we breathe. You give us food to sustain our bodies, wisdom to sustain our minds and the Holy Spirit to fill our soul. You have given us Your Precious Son so that we might be saved. What more could we ask for? YET . . . we always seem to want (not need) for more. And then . . . we often find it so hard to "walk away" from "things". We are often like Lot's Wife - looking back at what we had - whether it was good for us or not. Please help us to become the people You want us to be and to follow You . . . without looking back.
In the Name of Your Precious Son, Jesus, we pray . . . Amen
During our June 30th Bible Study our Women brought forth the following prayer requests. Please keep these people in your mind, heart and prayers throughout each day.
Judy W asked for continued prayers for her friend Rita - you may recall her husband Terry just passed away. It is believed that neither Rita nor Terry have been saved. Judy asks for prayers that Rita will accept the services of a Stephen Minister.
Judi C offered up a praise for her family member, Sandy, who just underwent breast cancer surgery resulting in a single mastectomy. Thankfully the cancer had not spread to her lymph nodes. Her treatment (chemo / radiation) has not been told to her yet. Prayers for comfort and endurance as she continues with treatment.
Betsy asked for prayers for her daughter-in-law, Fran, who is pregnant. She and her husband Rob have another 10 year old child. Fran has had issues. Please pray for a healthy successful pregnancy.
Mary Ann shared Darla's thanks to us for all our prayers while Joe has been through and recovering from surgery. He's been to the surgeon for a follow-up visit who has reported Joe is healing well - the stitches have been removed and he will be able to drive in a few weeks.
Continue keeping Faye Umble our Children's Minister at CUMC in prayer for healing and comfort. It was reported that she is walking without crutches.
Judi C shared that their Holy Land travelling companion, Glen, has arrived safely home from Jerusalem. He is in a rehab in Oveido near his daughter. Pastor Harold's wife, Donna, went to visit him and sent us this report: HI everyone. What a blessing it was to see Glen today. I went hoping to pray for him and be a blessing to him but he was a blessing to me. I did pray with him but he also prayed a beautiful prayer. He knows that Jesus is The Great Physician. Harold is going tomorrow. Glen has an intestinal infection that is highly contagious. If you go visit him you will wear a gown and gloves. Hopefully, the infection will pass soon. Please keep praying, Donna
Linda asked for continued prayer for her friend Julie, who had broken her hip and shoulder. While she is still in rehab it has been determined that her mother-in-law needed to be moved from where she was living to Julie and her husband's house. This was due to her sister-in-law suffering from stage 3 uterine cancer and no longer being able to care for her mother. Please lift up all for endurance, acceptance, comfort and healing.
We also ask for prayer for continued healing for Linda's concussion and a return to normal eye sight and balance.
Barb asked for prayers for her step-son, Bill Jr. who is 32 years old - suffers from bi-polar - and has been drifting with no direction when he's been home. On July 9th, he is returning to where he was in missionary school YWAM in India. Prayers for him to receive direction while he is there to be at peace and to spend his time taking classes and volunteering.
We had the opportunity to meet Paula, Lois' friend, as she joined us for Bible Study. Thank you all for making her feel welcome. Please lift her up in prayer for a safe journey home to Rochester, NY.
Keep Judy D in prayer as she plans for a wonderful family vacation travelling to New Hampshire on August 4th, with her husband Ralph. They will enjoy time with their children and grandchildren - picking some of them up on their way north.
Anna has sold her house in Atlanta (YAY!). Please pray for a successful closing on July 25th.
Dreama asked for prayers for her friend, Susie, to be able to tolerate the chemo treatment necessary for her cancer.
Please keep our Florida United Methodist Children's Home residents in prayer as we continue to collect school supplies for them.
We learned that the 3 boys who were abducted in Israel had been found dead. Please pray that violence and revenge does not consume the people, but that the Lord helps to bring peace to his promised land.
We asked for prayer for the innocence of all our children and wisdom for our teenagers.
