We celebrate not only the hope of resurrection and the gift of salvation, but also the map that helps the lost find their way, the light that helps illuminate our darkness, the truth that's worth giving up everything we have. The Gospel of John tells the story this way:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . . In Him was life, and the life was the light of all people . . . And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen His glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1, 4, 14).
Jesus was the Incarnation of God's message and God's will. The messenger was the message. When we talk about Jesus as Savior,
we're referring to the cross and the Resurrection. When we talk about Jesus as Lord, we're referring to His call to follow Him and to do as He commanded.
Do you remember Jesus' last words before He ascended to heaven?
"God therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Are we making disciples???
In addition to celebrating the hope of resurrection and the gift of salvation and the cross - let's also celebrate the birth of the One who came to teach us how to live, to show us the way, to be the truth and the life. Because we are His followers, we seek to live our lives in a radically different way.
Let His words - the words who, as a twelve-year-old son of Mary, amazed those who first heard Him in the Temple - amaze and astound us still!!!
PRAISE GOD for ALL He has given to us. Let the Glory be His!!!
