Last night we began to watch the DVD on Masada (filmed in 1981). This takes place after 70 A.D. - after the temple has been destroyed, Jews (not yet called "Christians") began to flee due to persecution by Rome. Taxation left the people with little money / product to live on, many were killed or taken into slavery. When Judi was in Israel she learned that many of the Zealots lived in the cliffs and had to repel down the mountains to get to their homes. The tax collectors were expected to collect from them which was very difficult. Here is a summary of the movie . . .
